THE INITIAL CONSULTATION

During the initial consultation, the client will talk about their problem and Barbara will make an assessment as to the most appropriate treatment for that client, advising them about the approximate number of sessions needed to help resolve the issues.

Barbara uses a wide range of techniques to help individuals make the changes they want rapidly and permanently.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?

A common misconception about hypnotherapy is that the practitioner has control over the client. This is not true and hypnotherapy should not be confused with stage hypnosis. In a typical hypnotherapy session a client will enter a deeply relaxed state just by listening to the practitioner. The client is not asleep, nor wide awake, just in a very pleasant and comfortable state of relaxation. During this state the sub-conscious mind becomes receptive to beneficial suggestions for change.

The treatment is safe, non-invasive and brings about rapid change. Most people hear what is being said, whilst some will be in a deeper state of relaxation and will not recall the content of the session, but will enjoy the beneficial changes.

In some cases the client will be taught how to practice self-hypnosis at home. This is particularly beneficial with pain control and pre-operative preparation. It is also helpful with cases of IBS.
